(Des Moines)– Governor Kim Reynolds this (Fri.) afternoon issued a disaster proclamation for four counties heavily impacted by severe weather Thursday and early today (Fri.).
The proclamation for Buena Vista, Fremont, Page and Plymouth counties makes state resources available to assist them in recovery operations. It’s effective immediately and will expire on May 18th, 2025.
Residents of the four counties are eligible to apply through the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program which provides grants up to $7,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level. Grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of personal property or food, and temporary housing expenses. More information can be found at homelandsecurity.iowa.gov/assistance. Potential applicants have 45 days from the date of the proclamation to apply.
The Disaster Case Advocacy Program addresses needs stemming from disaster-related hardship, injury or adverse conditions. More information on that can be found at iowacommunityaction.org or at Homelandsecurity.iowa.gov.
