(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park City Council Wednesday evening voted 5 to nothing to deny a preliminary plat for the first phase of Emerald Estates. It doesn’t mean the housing development is being rejected. It just means the planning process needs to be re-visited to address some concerns expressed during Wednesday’s public hearing. While the plans still call for 56 lots as originally proposed, Drew Hage, representing Spirit of Okoboji, the project developer, said they’re looking into combining some lots for some multi-residential buildings, including two-story townhomes. Hage says they intend to abide by the R-2 zoning requirements in that area, adding the increased density would still be well within those stipulations. Multi-family units are allowed under the city’s R-2 classification.
