Ag Official: Spring Field Work Should Kick Into High Gear In Coming Days

April 09, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Lakefield, Mn.)– Weather permitting, a lot of fieldwork will likely be getting underway throughout the area in coming days. Jim Nesseth of Extended Ag Services in Lakefield says the forecast looks ideal…

“It looks like it’s going to warm up here in the next few days and so I’m sure we’re going to see some activity because soil conditions in most cases are pretty good. The fields are drying out so that’s a big plus to have and I think soil temperatures will be quick to gain there, getting over that 50 degree mark, so that’s good. And the calendar’s saying hey, it’s pretty close to start planting corn, so. I think a lot of things are kind of thumbs up and so I’m pretty sure we’re going to see some activity and quite a bit in the following week.”

Nesseth says some fertilizer is also going on right now.
