Road Work Season Is Quickly Approaching

March 31, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Sioux City)– Motorists beware: road construction season is about to get underway. Iowa D.O.T District 3 Transportation Planner Sarah Tracy says most of that will consist of repairs from last year’s flooding…

“The majority of them involve debris removal and those are throughout all the counties we cover. So there’s many of those that will be going on starting this spring going on throughout the summer just to get things back in good shape after the flooding.”

She says there are a few bigger projects as well…

“Up in Lyon county there’s a bridge deck overlay that will be happening on U.S. 18 over the Big Sioux River and then in O’Brien county there’s 18 miles of asphalt crack filling that will be on Iowa 10 from Sutherland to the north junction of U.S. 71.”

As we reported previously, some work is also planned on a stretch of Highway 9 in Dickinson County from Highway 86 west to the Osceola county line.
