(Jackson, Mn.)– Wintry weather over the weekend left some customers of Jackson-based Federated REA without power.
The cooperative says about 573 customers were left in the dark Sunday after the wind caused ice-covered power lines to gallop and slap together. Operations Manager George Madden says most of the outages affected customers served by a substation near Wilder. Some areas near Okabena and Heron Lake were also affected. Madden says the outages began a little after 1:30 pm Sunday, with service being restored around 3:00 pm.
Some outages were also reported in Martin county.
