(Spencer)– Candidates are being sought for this year’s Clay County Fair Queen. The winner will be crowned Sunday, June 8th and will go on to compete for the Iowa State Fair Queen title. She will also represent the Clay County Fair at various community events throughout the summer.
Eligible candidates must be between the ages of 16 and 21 and reside in Clay county or an adjoining county, provided the majority of her activities take place in Clay county. Applicants must also be a member of at least one service organization, must be unmarried, have no children, not hold another queen title and not be a professional model.
The winner will receive numerous prizes, including a $1,500 scholarship. Applications can be found at the Clay County Fair website and must be submitted by this coming May 12th.
Contestants will be judged on personality, leadership, community involvement, charm, poise, and public speaking skills.
