(Wallingford)– The Wallingford Fire Department had another close call with a grass fire Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the area of 2132 420th Avenue east of Wallingford. A post on the department’s Facebook page says they were able to quickly put out the fire before it could reach several farm vehicles and a building. They attribute the quick action of Matthew Richards of Wallingford who assisted by using a tractor and disc to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby CRP field.
No injuries were reported. Firefighters were on the scene a little more than a half hour.
