Dickinson County Supervisors Approve Detour Agreement For Hwy 9 Work

March 25, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Some road work is due to get underway soon on a heavily traveled stretch of Highway 9 from the Osceola county line east to Highway 86. The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors this (Tues.) morning approved an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation to detour traffic onto county roads while the project is going on. Dickinson County Engineer Jeff Rose…

“It would use County Road A-34 from the west county line east approximately 11.22 miles to 213th Avenue the north one mile to Highway 86. The detour will be for approximately two months of use and will not interfere with the County Road A-34 bridge project. This detour is to detour traffic for the Highway 9 work from the county line to Highway 86.”

Rose told the supervisors he isn’t certain when the re-surfacing project on Highway 9 will actually begin, but he says it’s his understanding in talks with the D.O.T that it could be soon.
