We Now Know The Winner Of This Year’s Rotary Car Drop Contest

March 19, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– The Iowa Great Lakes Rotary Club sold all 720  tickets for their car drop fundraiser this year which means they raised $7200. Rotary club member Melanie Becker says the money is given to a variety of different organizations and causes in the Iowa Great Lakes Area…

“The rest of the money goes to various projects. We’re part of Shelby Duis. We keep that park going and all the maintenance for that. We give a bunch of nonprofits money as well like for the Imagination Library, we just gave them money. For example the Humane Society has gotten money. And then there’s a couple mission trips that we have people go on and they also get some of the money as well.”

The Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire and Rescue Dive Team and Boji Tow and Recovery pulled the car out of Smith’s bay on Tuesday. The car fell through the ice on March 14th and the official time was 10:16. The lucky winner of the $1000 was Dayle Broocks of Spirit Lake.
