(Paullina)-– Four northwest Iowa fire departments battled a barn fire Thursday near Paullina.
Paullina Fire Chief Ryan Harper says they were called to 4621 Pierce Avenue around 2:40 pm and found the building actively on fire. Firefighters from Granville, Archer and Primghar were also called for assistance with manpower and water, along with an excavator. Some livestock near the barn were safely moved to a nearby pasture.
The barn and its contents were a total loss. Siding on a nearby house sustained some heat damage.
Harper says it’s believed the fire may have been caused by some equipment being stored in the barn.
