Man’s Body Found Near Hog Confinement Following A Fire

February 27, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(George)– An investigation continues after a man was found dead outside of a hog confinement near George.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were a little before 6:00 pm this past Friday to the 3500 block of 210th street after getting a report of a fire in the confinement. Deputies with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the George Fire Department and first responders arrived on the scene. They found the body of a deceased male outside the building with extensive burns.

According to George Fire Assistant Chief Josh Eben, crews found a slightly burnt curtain and light smoke inside the building. He said firefighters tore down some ceiling and found smoldering insulation, which they removed from the building. Eben says the damage was minimal.

Authorities say foul play is not suspected and the incident remains under investigation. Authorities haven’t released the man’s name.
