(Estherville)– The Estherville City Council Monday awarded a bid to demolish a building on the city’s west side that once housed an A & W Restaurant. It’s located just south of the Elk’s Club on Highway 9. Cory Juergens Construction of Estherville submitted the low bid of $15,100 to tear down the former restaurant building itself, a car drive up area and an old garage on the site. It was one of three bids received.
City Administrator Penny Clayton says the cost of the project may come in a bit higher than anticipated, and the demolition may have to be delayed somewhat, after they discovered something unexpectedly on the site…
Clayton says remediation of the septic component will be done as a separate project.
