(Spencer)– A close call Sunday evening in Clay county after authorities received a report of an older male who had walked out of his house in the 2400 mile of Highway 18 and couldn’t be located. The Clay County Communications Center received the call around 10:15 pm. Deputies arrived and quickly requested additional assistance because of the extreme cold. Authorities say the temperature at the time was two degrees below zero.
The man was located after about two and-a-half hours of searching. He was found about two miles from where he had last been seen. The man, who’s name hasn’t been released, was uninjured but was taken to the hospital for observation.
The Spencer Police Department, Spencer and Dickens Fire Departments and Spencer ambulance crew assisted along with some volunteers. Side-by-sides, a drone and thermal imagers were also used in the search.
