(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake Athletic Booster Club will hold a major fundraising event later this month. They’ll be holding their annual gala Friday, February 28th at The Waterfront. Club member Kiley Zankowski is helping organize the event. She says it all starts that evening at 5:30 pm with a cocktail hour followed by a chicken and steak dinner buffet; presentations from the coaches, a silent auction, and some live entertainment…
“We’re also really excited this year Scott Larson will be joining us with some live music, which he’s an Okoboji favorite for sure. Many of you probably know him whether he’s performing with The Scott Larson Band or Kiefer and Scott at Okoboji Store, but he’s definitely an Okoboji favorite and it’s great that we’re going to have him here to help us raise funds for the kids.”
Zankowski says tickets are $50 and must be purchased at least a week in advance. She says the proceeds go to help out Spirit Lake High School and Middle School athletes…
“Each year the Spirit Lake Indian Athletic Booster Club gives tens of thousands of dollars back to our Spirit Lake Middle School and High School sports through various equipment and uniform needs. Pretty much anything that the coaches need they can reach out and we’re able to assist in funding those. So it makes a huge difference and really helps represent our community with those kids through sports. You know kids learn so much through athletics and we just want to help enhance the experience.”
