(Fonda)– A man was injured when a train crashed into a semi Wednesday in Pocahontas County. The crash reportedly happened around 10am two miles west of Fonda.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the semi was headed northbound and was struck on the side by a train as it was crossing railroad tracks. The semi wound up in a nearby field, while the train was slightly derailed.
The driver of the semi was transported to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake with non-life-threatening injuries.
The semi driver has been charged with Failure to Yield at a Railroad Crossing.
