(Wahpeton)– A pork loin distribution for those in need will be taking place this Saturday, February 15th. The Dickinson County Hunger Coalition is partnering with Krafty’s Meat Market to give away 500 pork loins free of charge at Lakeside lab from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm that day, or until supplies last.
Organizers say the event is intended to address the rising food insecurity in the Iowa Great Lakes area and statewide. In its Fiscal Year 2024 Impact Report, the Food Bank of Iowa states that one in 9 Iowans struggle with food access, and one-third of Iowa households don’t make enough to cover basic needs. Locally, Dickinson county pantries are seeing record high demands.
Those attending Saturday’s event should enter through the south gate at Lakeside Lab. There is a limit of one pork loin per vehicle.
