Dickinson County Trails Continue To See Increased Usage

February 03, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Milford)– Dickinson county’s trail system continues to increase in popularity. In her annual report, Erin Reed of Dickinson County Trails says usage of the trails has continues to steadily increase…

“In the last six years, yeah, we doubled in trail counts. It’s just been amazing as the system has grown how many people are coming up here to bike and enjoy the trail system.”

She says the numbers, as could be expected, vary depending upon the season…

“We run about 2,000 to 2,500 during the summer especially May through Labor Day, we had an average of 2,500 daily use on the trails. That’s pretty remarkable. You can imagine the kind of dollars that’s bringing into the region and it’s good, healthy for the community and people just getting out there and enjoying the outdoors in a different way.”

Reed adds those numbers will continue to increase with even more extensions of the system coming on line in the near future…

“The growth for Fostoria, Spencer and Milford to bring these people here and enjoy our downtowns and spend their money here and enjoy our beautiful landscape.”

Reed adds they’re continuing to establish and grow an endowment to help with maintaining the trail system.
