(Dickens)– Two area fire departments battled a pasture fire this (Thurs.) morning a few miles northwest of Dickens. The Spencer and Fostoria Fire Departments were called to the area of 2610 330th Street in Clay county around 9:20 am. Officials say the fire was burning in some grass directly behind a residence. They were able to extinguish the fire before it could spread any further.
A burn pile, said to be the source of the fire, was also extinguished.
Officials again warn that with the lack of precipitation and ongoing drought, that grass and fields are very susceptible to going up in flames.
