(Arnolds Park)– The Wallflowers will be the headliners for this year’s Okoboji Bluewater Festival. Co-Chair Julie Peterson say the group, headed by Jakob Dylan, son of rocker Bob Dylan, will be performing Saturday, August 9th at Preservation Plaza…
“I was fortunate enough to see The Wallflowers maybe about eight years ago in Sioux Falls. We’ve put in several requests over the past years to have them come to the Bluewater Festival and this year it worked, so we are super excited to have them play.”
Peterson says The Wallflowers have been around 30 years and recently came out with a new album…
“They’ve had several, several Grammy Awards and have recently released a new album called Exit Wound, so they’ve been around a long time but they’re still really current.”
Another well known group that has strong ties to the Iowa Great Lakes will also be performing at this year’s event. Co-Chair Greg Drees says The Nadas will be opening for The Wallflowers…
“They opened for Melissa Ethridge a few years back. Last year they were here opening for X Ambassadors, so we’re welcoming them back for a third appearance. They have a very strong regional following so people can really relate to The Nadas. They’re a lot of fun and they’ll open up for The Wallflowers.”
Drees adds this will mark the 10th year for the Okoboji Bluewater Festival…
“You know way back in 2016 we didn’t know if this would be a one year event or not, but we’ve been encouraged after the event every year to come back and here we are 10 years later.”
Drees says they will soon be lining up this year’s keynote speakers and guest panel. As in past years he says the 2025 Okoboji Bluewater Festival will again feature educational activities for all ages along with vendor and informational displays.
