Pocahontas Superintendent Finalists Announced

(Pocahontas)– The Pocahontas Area Community School District has announced the four finalists in its search for the district’s next superintendent. They include Tom Ryherd, who is the current superintendent of the Cherokee Community School District, and before that served as the Cherokee High School Principal. Robert Boley, who currently serves as principal of the South Tama County High School. Anthony Ryan, who is the superintendent and director of special education at the East Marshall Community School District. The 4th finalist is Steven Barber, who recently served as interim superintendent of the Grinnell-Newberg Community School District. There were a total of ten applicants.

The Pocahontas Area School Board and stakeholder interview team will conduct final interviews with each of the four finalists today (Wed.). The board then plans to discuss the candidates and will reach a formal decision soon after the formal interviews.

The next superintendent will begin leading Pocahontas Area effective July 1st.
