(Des Moines)– Governor Kim Reynolds has extended disaster proclamations for five counties impacted by bird flu. The previous proclamation for O’Brien, Palo Alto, Sac, Sioux and Worth counties is now in effect until February 1st, 2025.
The extension allows state resources from Iowa Homeland Security, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, and other agencies to continue tracking and monitoring, rapid detection, containment, disposal and disinfection. It also waives regulatory provisions for commercial vehicles responding to affected sites.
