(Des Moines, IA) — The Iowa State Patrol wants to see changes after the amount of Iowans who died on state roads in 2024. The final number of traffic deaths in the Hawkeye State was 351 last year, which they described as being far too many.
A patrol spokesperson says they will be pushing the state legislature to pass hands-free legislation that requires drivers to keep their phones away while behind the wheel. The department argued this has helped other states lower the death toll on roads.
