(Spirit Lake)– The Iowa Great Lakes Nutcracker and the American Midwest Ballet will present the Nutcracker Ballet on Friday and Saturday at the Sami Bedell Center for the Performing Arts in Spirit Lake. Dawn Fisher, Director of the Iowa Great Lakes Nutcracker, says it is special to have this event at the Sami Bedell Center every two years…
“I think this is our eighth show and it’s so special to us and to the community. We know we do this school matinee and it’s so important I think for all of the kids every time the ballet company comes to get to audition and to be a part of this magical production.”
Fisher says this is a once in a lifetime experience for the younger dancers…
“It is seriously a once in a lifetime experience. And what’s really cool to me is that, you know, since we do it every two years the kids, obviously they get older, and so then they’re trying out for different roles. So through the years it’s so neat for kids to look back, I was an angel, and then I was a mouse. You know it’s pretty amazing memories for them, for sure.”
The first show is on Friday (Dec. 6th) at 7:30 and the second show is a matinee on Saturday (Dec. 7th) at 2:30. You can go to tututix.com to purchase tickets or you can buy them at the door.
