(Orleans)– Fire Friday afternoon damaged a home in Orleans. Spirit Lake Fire Chief Pat Daly tells KUOO news they were called around 3:00 pm to 133 252nd Avenue just east of the fish hatchery. Daly says law enforcement on the scene was reporting heavy smoke coming from the roof of the home. He says damage was pretty extensive…
Daly says the occupant had just gotten home and discovered the smoke. He and some cats managed to get out unharmed. Daly says they believe the fire was electrical in nature…
Daly says they were assisted by two other area fire departments…
An ambulance from Lakes Area Healthcare also stood by on the scene as a precaution, along with the Spirit Lake Police Department. Firefighters were on the scene nearly three hours.
***UPDATE*** The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called back to that location a little before 11:00 am this (Sat.) morning after the fire apparently re-kindled. Initial reports indicated smoke coming once again from the attic and roof of the home. Firefighters were on the scene about another two hours.
