(Sioux City)– A Cherokee man will serve three years in federal prison for possessing child pornography. 23-year-old Christopher Cordeiro was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Sioux City.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says in April and May of 2023, the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children received a tip that Cordeiro had uploaded child porn on four occasions. Law enforcement executed a search warrant on Cordeiro’s residence in September, 2023 and found over 200 images and 10 videos of child pornography along with more than 1,000 images and 133 videos of simulated children engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
Cordeiro is being held in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
