Corridor Launches “Big Idea” Initiative

November 18, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation is launching a new program aimed at entrepreneurs in their four county service area. Trevor Smith, Corridor Senior Vice President, says the Big IDEA gives entrepreneurs an opportunity to submit their dreams to start or expand a business, then encourages friends, family and customers to vote for them online…

“This is a new Iowa Lakes Corridor initiative and anybody within our region can apply to it if you’re either starting up a new business, in early development or if you’re in home looking to expand to a storefront. But we encourage individuals to reach out to our office and starting in January submissions for videos will go live and we encourage people interested in applying to submit a 90 second video explaining their idea which will then go to a public vote and the top vote getters for that will then go to a final pitch-off competition where entrepreneurs will then compete for a 10 thousand dollar prize in front of some judges.”

Smith says the final pitch competition will be judged on growth potential, scalability, innovation and promoting economic development in the region.
