Chain Reaction Collision Results In Multiple Injuries

August 02, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Terril)– A chain reaction collision Thursday afternoon in the 1700 block of Dickinson County Road N-14, or 310th Avenue, sent several people to the hospital.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 55-year-old Paula Stoker of Mallard was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound when she collided with a northbound 2021 Ford Transit Van driven by 38-year-old Michael Myers of Emmetsburg. The impact pushed that vehicle into a northbound 2005 Chrysler driven by 31-year-old Kady Mortensen of Terril. Deputies say Mortenson and Myers had slowed or stopped for traffic ahead of them when the collision occurred.

Stoker, Mortenson and Brandon DeClercq, a passenger in the vehicle driven by Myers, were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with non incapacitating injuries. Several others complained of pain and were treated on the scene and released.

All of the vehicles were totaled.

Deputies say the collision, which took place around 3:30 pm, remains under investigation.
