(Spirit Lake)– A garage sale recently held at Grace Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake raised more than $6,000 to help extremely poor families in Oaxaca, Mexico educate their children. Although schools there are public, families are required to pay for uniforms, shoes, transportation, supplies and other items.
Organizers of the sale thank everyone who helped out with it in any way, along with those who made purchases and donations.
Assisting the residents of Oaxaca was a longtime endeavor of the late Cliff Hinderman of Spirit Lake, who passed away several years ago.
