(Arnolds Park)-Registration is open for the Iowa Rocks Talent Contest. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association has announced that registration is underway for the Iowa Rocks Talent Contest, which is open to bands and individuals age 21 and under.
President Ralph Kluseman says applications are accepted online. “This is our 10th year and we’re really excited about this because we’ve gotten a lot of support over all of these years, but this year, we’re really looking forward to seeing if we can get as many young people around the State of Iowa as we possible can. This is going to be a great opportunity for the kids. It runs through July 31 and all they have to do is go to the front page of our website. There’s a story right there, they can click on the link and register right there. The rules are there, the sign up form is there. It tells them that they can upload their you tube videos to their you tube channel and we’ll get the process started.”
He adds that winners of the competition often go on to careers in music. “Over the years that we’ve been doing this, there are so many kids that have gone on to bigger and better things. I know for a fact a couple of our winners from the past have moved down to Nashville and have taken on a music career full time. So, out of all the things that we do, this is really a great way in our mission to make sure we provide as much of an opportunity for all the young people across Iowa as we can.”
