(Cherokee)– The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is hosting some informational meetings to discuss the region’s deer herd status. Officials say population levels have dropped off in recent years.
One of the meetings will be held on Thursday, July 18th beginning at 6:30pm at the Community Center Auditorium in Cherokee. The meeting will be open to the public.
State wildlife experts say multiple factors have likely contributed to the decline in the number of deer on the landscape, and it might take a multilevel approach for the herd to recover. The meetings aim to move forward with a plan that the Iowa DNR can execute that hunters will support.
