(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office is sounding the alarm over a scam that’s making the rounds locally.
Authorities say someone is calling people in the area claiming they’re a deputy with the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office. He tells the person on the other end of the line that he has a warrant for that person’s arrest and requests that person sends money.
The Sheriff’s Office says it NEVER calls anyone requesting they send money. They say it should serve as a red flag whenever you get a call from someone asking or demanding that you send money. Authorities say it’s well worth the time to verify the information is legitimate.
