Assistance Available To Those In Dickinson County With Wells Impacted By Flooding

June 26, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Assistance is being made available to Dickinson county residents who rely on wells for drinking water. Megan Kardell of the county’s Environmental Office says there’s concern that some of those wells may have become contaminated due to all the flooding. She says her office can assist in arranging tests and disinfection of affected wells…

“I did want the public to know that our Environmental Health, we do have a grant through the state that allows for wells to be tested and shock chlorination and subsequently plugged, if needed, or rehabilitated. There are funds available to the citizens of the county for flooded wells. And like I said it doesn’t have to be flooded but if you’re concerned about the water quality, we can definitely arrange that.”

Kardell says anyone interested in that should contact her office at the Dickinson County Courthouse.
