(Orleans)– Water levels of the Iowa Great Lakes continue to increase, however it appears Big Spirit Lake may be about to crest.
Big Spirit Lake as of late this (Sunday) morning was at 16.42 feet, compared with 16.39 feet as of about 4:00 am this (Sunday) morning. The 16.42 reading is still well below the record level of 18.79 set on July 4th, 2018.
The Okoboji’s were at 8.05 feet as of late this (Sunday) morning, up from 8.00 at 3:45 am this (Sunday) morning. The record level for the Okoboji’s is 8.7 feet set on July 17th, 1993.
Officials remind everyone a 5 mph speed limit remains in place on ALL lakes in Dickinson county until further notice. The only exception is for the DNR Lakes Patrol, fire boat, dock service barges, and marina services. Those vessels must be properly marked and have a flashing amber light.
