(Arnolds Park)-There’s a big concert on tap tonight.
KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
REO Speedwagon will headline the Live at The Lake Concert at Preservation Plaza Friday evening.
Lead singer Kevin Cronin says, the band is looking forward to returning to the Iowa Great Lakes. “When I saw this gig on the itinerary, I’m like, Arnolds Park, Iowa, I know we’ve played there before, but when you say it’s 25 years ago, that makes sense because it’s a little foggy in my memory, but yesterday, I was in our production office, and our guys had photographs of the stage from above and they showed the whole scene. The stage looks beautiful, the lake’s right there, you know, people on the grass. It just feels like summertime to me. We’re just getting rolling here. We played the first show on our summer tour, and Arnolds Park is our second show. We’re headed toward the big summer tour and this is kind of a fun time for us. It’s gonna be good. I mean, this is right in the heart of what we always call REO Country, the small towns in the Midwest. This is where we got our start. People in the small towns kind of just connected with us and we connected with them so, coming back to Arnolds Park, that just feels good to me.”
Opening act American Scarecrows will take the stage at 7:30 followed by REO Speedwagon.
