June 12, 2024 Becky Thoreson

(Okoboji)-The Speaker Series kicks off Thursday night at PLAC. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Summer Speaker Series will get underway for the season at Pearson Lakes Art Center on Thursday evening.

Executive Director Bob Kirshbaum says, Anita Bomgaars, President of The Friends of The Abbie Gardner Cabin will be speaking. “It’s a series of four different discussions during the summer. The first one kicking off with a little history and information about the Abbie Gardner Cabin and Anita Bomgaars will be one of the lead presenters that night along with a few other panelists. It’s a great way to kick off the season with our Speaker Series and that starts at 7:30.”

He adds that there is also an art opening that evening. “We start off at 5 o’clock with Al Harris Fernandez, Artist Searching for the Meaning in Abstraction, that starts at 5 o’clock with him speaking at 6, and then afterwards, it’s followed by Art After Hours with Ryan Sather and Karess Knudtson providing entertainment. Of course, with our artist openings and Speaker Series, we have free food, free wine. So, it’s a great opportunity to come hear about the artist, be entertained and then move right into the Speaker Series at 7:30.”

The Speaker Series and the art opening are both free and open to the public.
