Flagfest Is This Weekend In Spencer

June 04, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Flagfest is this weekend in Spencer. Blake Goss, Events and Program Coordinator for the Spencer Chamber of Commerce, says things get underway Friday with the Tail Twister’s Golf Tournament; an open house at DEMCO Manufacturing; a First Friday event along with a number of events Friday evening at School Park…

“We’re going to have some food trucks, some yard games in the park, we’ll have the story walk trail, a kid’s pedal pull, Imagination Library, and we’ll wrap it up with a movie in the park that evening, too. So everything will be at one location at North School Park. Plenty of parking, plenty of shade. Also you’ll hear some race cars going around that time. The Clay County Speedway will have the Enduro Race going at 7:00 pm.”

Saturday’s highlights include a 5K Fun Run and Walk at Spencer Hospital; the parade at 11:00 am; Grand Cruise; more Enduro Races at the Clay County Speedway; and “The Chill” street dance. Goss says a special display will also be available as part of Saturday’s activities…

“Throughout the day at the Clay County Heritage there will a traveling World War One Iowa Honor Roll exhibit which is very neat. It’s all the service men that served in World War One from across Iowa, and it is broken down to county as well, so you may find a relative or somebody you know on there.”

Sunday’s events include a patriotic pet parade; municipal band concert and cardboard boat races.
