Another Case Of HPAI Confirmed In NW Iowa

June 03, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Des Moines)– Governor Reynolds has authorized a Disaster Proclamation for Cherokee County in response to a confirmed case of bird flu in a commercial turkey flock.

The proclamation, effective immediately through July 2nd, allows the state to utilize resources for rapid detection, containment, and disposal of the virus. There are no immediate public health concerns, and it is safe to consume poultry products.

Producers are advised to contact their veterinarian if they suspect signs of the flu in their flocks.

The proclamation also waives regulatory provisions related to commercial vehicles responding to affected sites.
