(Milford)– An annual event for young people interested in learning more about the performing arts or creative arts is coming up again this summer. Jessica Schable of Okoboji Performing Arts says they once again will be holding their summer academy…
“You know I’ve called it a performing arts camp, but it’s really more of a creative arts camp. And so that’s coming up June 10th-14th from 9:00 in the morning until noon and that’s for ages seven through 16 and really all through high school. I put 16 but we do have a high school category when you register so it could probably be up to ages 18 even. Students who register are divided into classes by age so they’re not all lumped together, so first and second grade will be together, third and fourth grade. Tuition for those ages is $159 for the week and that covers all the snacks and the music and the materials for all the activities and everything. Fifth and sixth grade and then seventh and eighth grade will be two separate classes as well. Tuition for that age is $189. They get a little more in depth instruction and working with some of our teachers. And then the high school age is $195 for the week, even more in depth, kind of one-on-one instruction.”
She says it’s easy to get registered…
“It’s www.okobojiperformingarts.com. All one word, nothing’s capitalized. But also they can find that on our Facebook page which is just called Okoboji Performing Arts as well. We have students come from Sioux Falls and Des Moines and we have people who have grandchildren who come to the camps and they really enjoy it and come back every year. So, you know, maybe you have grandchildren who want to come visit and they’re interested in the creative arts or kids of your own or maybe you’re just interested in the creative arts but you’re not a child, we’re always looking for volunteers to help with kind of wrangling some of the students, help serve the snacks, help with the crafts and all of that. That, also, I can be contacted through our website, or donating to what we’re doing. We’ve had some really generous donors who have helped cover scholarships so that we can continue to give out scholarships for students who are interested to participate.”
