(Des Moines)– Governor Kim Reynolds Tuesday authorized a disaster proclamation for 15 counties impacted by the most recent bout with severe weather. Several of those counties are in northwest Iowa. They include Clay, Kossuth and Palo Alto.
The designation activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and Disaster Case Advocacy Program for those counties. The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program provides grants up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level. Grants are available for home repairs, replacement of clothing or food and temporary housing expenses. More information is available at the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management website: https://homelandsecurity.iowa.gov/disasters/individual-disaster-assistance-programs
The Disaster Case Advocacy Program addresses serious needs related to disaster-related hardship, injury or adverse conditions. More information on that program is available by contacting your local community action agency or by going to iowacommunityaction.org.
