Queen II Renovations nearly Complete, Public Cruises to start Weekend of May 25

May 07, 2024 Becky Thoreson

(Arnolds Park)-The Queen II will be back in the water next week. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The renovations of the Queen II are nearly complete.
Arnolds Park Amusement Park CEO Jon Pausley says, they hope to have the excursion boat back in the water early next week. “We are about a week behind where we hoped to be, but we’re looking at putting the Queen back in the water early next week, either the 13th or the 14th, and then we’ll have about a week or week and a half of some testing and sea trials and training for all of the new pieces that went in for our captain and crew, and then we will start public cruises the weekend of May 25th is our goal right now. So, everything looks good for a great long summer of sailing the water again on the Queen II and we’re looking forward to it.”
He notes that they have added history and music cruises this year. “Check out our Queen II page on our website at arnoldspark.com, but we’re gonna have 3 history cruises in partnership with The Dickinson County Museum, and they’re gonna come through and tell us some different areas around the lake and just some different interesting history, and then we’re also gonna have, every night that there’s not a history cruise, there’s gonna be some live music on the Queen. So, a great night to be able to come out, enjoy seeing the beautiful blue water and then also be able to enjoy some wonderful music.”
Opening day for The Park is May 18th.
