(Spencer)– The National Weather Service has modified flood warnings for the Little Sioux River, saying the flooding is now expected to be somewhat worse than first thought.
The warnings are in effect from west of Milford all the way to Cherokee.
The Little Sioux west of Milford was measured at 13.8 feet Friday evening. It’s expected to rise to 14.5 feet this (Saturday) evening. Flood stage at that location is 12.0 feet. Moderate flooding is occurring there.
At Spencer, the Little Sioux was at 12.2 feet Friday evening. A crest of 12.4 feet is expected early Sunday. Flood stage in Spencer is 10.0 feet.
A flood warning is also in effect for the Ocheyedan River in Clay county.
