Celebrate Trails Day To Be Observed Locally This Saturday, April 27th

April 25, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Saturday will be a good day to get the bicycle out. Celebrate Trails Day will be observed that day. Erin Reed of the Dickinson County Trails Board tells KUOO news they’ll be holding a special event locally Saturday to celebrate…

“We’re going to start out at the trail head by Hy-Vee and we’ll have some give away, some prizes locally from the Trails Board but also from the Rail to Trails Conservancy they got us a lot of giveaways, they’ve really helped to make this event happen.”

Reed says everyone is urged to participate…

“You know if you want to bike, if you want to walk, bring your dog along or your kids in the stroller, you do whatever you feel like doing. It’s very casual, no real agenda. It’s just a chance to get outside and celebrate trails and the warm weather coming our way.”

Reed says Saturday’s event will get underway at 10:00 am and is being put on by the Rails to Trails Conservancy…

“It is nationwide. It’s the Rails to Trails Conservancy. And if you want more information about what they’re doing, go to their website and check out where all the events are and sign up for prize packages from them as well.”

Again Saturday’s event gets underway locally at 10:00 am at the Tatanka Ska Trace trail head just east of Hy-Vee in Spirit Lake.
