(Estherville)– The Northwest Iowa Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, also known as RSVP, is talking about the important role that organization’s volunteers play in combatting food insecurity in the region.
Volunteers age 55 and over in RSVP’s five-county area of Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth and Palo Alto counties provide assistance with food deliveries, helping out at food pantries and with hot meals programs, such as Meals On Wheels. They also assist in serving the meals at various locations in the region, such as senior centers, Grand Avenue Community Outreach in Spencer, the Lakes Area Activity Center in Spirit Lake, Occasions in Spencer, the Algona Senior Center and the Estherville Senior Center Dinner Date. RSVP volunteers also assist with the children’s backpack food distribution program.
Those interested in volunteering with RSVP can complete an online registration form at iowalakes.edu/RSVP.
