(Spencer)– Fire today (Thurs.) damaged a home in Spencer after a stove burner accidentally got turned on. Fire Chief Jesse Coulson says crews were called to 1013 West 5th Street a little after 9:00 am after getting a report of a structure fire with animals in the house. Coulson says the Spencer Police Department and Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrived first and found the fire burning on the stove top. He says they put it out with an extinguisher.
Firefighters arrived and confirmed the fire was out. They also ventilated the house and checked for any extension.
A dog that was in the residence was taken to a vet for treatment.
Firefighters were on the scene a little more than an hour.
