NW Iowa Nurse Facing Charges In Death Of A Veteran

March 25, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Fonda)– A northwest Iowa nurse faces serious charges following the death of a U.S. Army veteran in a nursing home.

Becky Sue Manning stands accused of felony neglect of a healthcare facility resident for allegedly refusing to provide care to Marvin “Pete” Jacobs who died in 2023 at a nursing home in Fonda.

Prosecutors claim Manning disregarded repeated requests for assistance while Jacobs struggled to breathe due to a clogged airway. Despite multiple alerts from staff and Jacobs himself, Manning allegedly failed to take action, leading to tragic consequences.

The case highlights concerns about patient care and the responsibilities of healthcare professionals in nursing facilities.
