Dickinson County Supervisors Approve Plans For Center Lake Paving Project

March 19, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors this (Tues.) morning approved plans for a paving project for a road on the south side of Center Lake. County Engineer Cole Budach says it will consist of milling of what’s left of any existing pavement, replacing it with a new surface…

“We’ll mill down the existing pavement on 165th Street. On 225th Place there is no pavement there, so that will basically be a grade and pave through that loop there. In addition this project has portions that are jurisdiction of Spirit Lake, so we’ll go all the way from 220th Avenue to Highway 71. And I’ve talked with Gregg Owens on that as well. And then Okoboji also has a short stretch on the west side where we have split jurisdiction so they have the south half, we have the north half. Also I’ve talked with Michael Meyers on that portion, they’re on board with this project.”

Budach says they’re also working with the Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary District on adjusting some manholes as part of the project. He says it’s scheduled to be done this construction season…

“The contract has 60 working days with a late start of August 2nd, so two months after August, September, October, is when I guess, a late finish date would be. And the contractor, once it’s let, can start early at any time so if their schedule allows they can start as soon as we get the contract verified.”

A bidletting on the project is set for April 9th.
