Martin County West Making Second Attempt At Bond Referendums

March 18, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Sherburn, Mn.)– Voters in the Martin County West School District will head back to the polls May 14th to decide the fate of a pair of bond referendums for a second time. One is for $64.7 million for a new PreK-12 school that would be built at the site of the current high school; another is for $2.04 million for an auxiliary gym that would be built adjacent to the new facility, should the first bond issue pass.

Informational sessions will be held Tuesday, March 26th and Monday, April 29th at the Martin County West High School in Sherburn. The open houses will run from 5:00 until 7:00 pm each evening.

Referendums for similar projects failed last fall. Since then, board members say they’ve reviewed various options, adding that they are committed to the long-term success of the Martin County West District while ensuring they are being fiscally responsible.
