(Des Moines, IA) — A public comment period is now open on Iowa’s 2024 impaired waters report.
The Department of Natural Resources report, required by the Clean Water Act, lists over 700 segments of lakes, rivers, and streams that don’t meet water quality standards. Of the 1,400 samples taken, 387 are ranked healthy, about a third.
