City Of Okoboji Considering Dropping Meter Fees From Water Bills

(Okoboji)– Okoboji residents could be seeing a slight reduction in their water bills in the future. City Administrator Michael Meyers says Okoboji’s Finance Committee has recommended a fee for water meters be dropped from quarterly bills. Meyers says revenues from the fee were being used to fund a meter replacement project…

“We have essentially substantially completed our meter replacement project over the past six years. It originally was supposed to be a five year project but it turned into six due to covid, however we are substantially complete and we need to make a determination as to whether or not the meter fee needs to be continued moving forward, but the recommendation currently is to remove it.”

A public hearing on the matter is set for the Okoboji City Council’s April 9th meeting.
