Orleans City Council Reviews Preliminary Plans For 1st Phase Of 140th Street Project

(Orleans)– The Orleans City Council Monday evening reviewed some preliminary plans for what would be the first of a multi-phase project for improvements on 140th Street along the south shore of Big Spirit Lake.

The first phase would involve work from Peoria Avenue to Hill Avenue, or the pump house. Plans call for increased sight distance at the Peoria Avenue intersection; designated cross walks; shoulder and parking delineations and drainage work. Mayor Bill Maas says the council is weighing its options…

The first phase has an estimated cost of $1.3 million, but Maas says the council is continuing to look at options…

An engineer who was at Monday’s City Council meeting told the council the plans as of now would include seeking bids late this fall or winter with any construction not getting underway until the 2025 season.
